Safety Precautions for Soap and Lotion Making.
When it comes to making handmade soap, safety should always be a top priority.
As a soap / lotion maker, it’s important to take the necessary precautions that be to ensure the process is not only enjoyable but also safe for you and your family.
It has to be incident free because you are well informed!!!
Remember knowledge prevents many dangers.
Here are some key safety precautions to keep in mind and always practice when making soap/Lotion at home.
First and foremost, always work in a well-ventilated area when making soap/lotion.
This will help to prevent the inhalation of fumes especially from the lye, and dust particles in the case of lotion additives like powered vitamins and herbal extracts….which can be harmful if inhaled in large quantities.
Opening windows or using a fan can help to circulate the air and keep you safe while working with lye.
It’s also crucial to wear protective gear, such as;
gloves,
apron,
goggles , and
closed shoes
when handling lye.
Lye is a caustic substance that can cause burns if it comes into contact with your skin or eyes. By wearing the proper protective gear, you can protect yourself from potential accidents and ensure a safe soap/Lotion-making experience.
Always pour your lye into water, and not water into lye.
Pouring water into lye may cause an; eruption that can burn your skin.
